Yakitito Yanagito was Dr. Peyton Westlake's lab assistant, working together to develop the perfect synthetic skin to replace skin graph procedures in severe injury cases. The research prove difficult for the two as the synthetic skin last 99 minutes, would dissolve after 99 minutes. He was also (apparently) a somewhat skilled martial artist. One night, when the lights in Westlake's laboratory went out during a skin experiment, both he and Peyton discovered the skin lasted longer in darkness due to the synthetic cells photo-sensitivity to UV light. Unfotunately, within mere seconds of the discovery, Robert G. Durant and his gang raided the lab. Yakitito attempted to fight them off but was overpowered and sufficates him with plastic. Peyton begs them to let Yakitito breathe, Durant obliges and tells one of his men, Rick, to "ventilate" him. Rick pulls out his gun and executes Yakitito right in front of Peyton, much to his dismay. Durant then proceeded to collect Yakitito's finger to be added to his collection.
